Modern Tantrist?

What is a tantrist and what is a modern tantrist? I used to feel as if concepts like neo and modern tantra were conflicting. I felt that the true knowledge was from the ancient past. Egyptians, Taoists, and Tibetans came to mind. Yet the conflict with this view is that right now we are living in modern times, doing modern things, and even if we are practicing ancient traditions we are living and doing it right now! Perhaps I am playing on words with my previous statement, but modern tantra is the tantra of the times. Tantra is an art. It allows us to paint the picture of our lives by actively creating or we can also choose the path of being a witness and seeing the beauty in everything that appears to us.

To be a tantrist is to be a disciple who adheres to the idea of a movement and spreads the word about it. This is a general definition that you will get if you look it up online. However, those who have been practicing tantra in modern times might disagree with this definition based on the fact that tantra is an art and in art deviation is allowed. The artist is a creator. Perhaps a modern tantrist adheres to the principles of artistry if nothing else. Creating the moment, enjoying the stimuli in their environment, and rolling with the flow of pleasure. If modern and tantrist do not seem to go together for you I understand. I was there a short time ago. I am a tantrika who sees some value to living in the modern world, and I have found ways to enjoy using ancient practices for enhancement.
